Welcome to Psychochild's Hompage!

(He's Brian's alter-ego on the Internet)

Let's start at the beginning, shall we?
People always ask me how I got my name. Well, it started in the Dorms at ISU. I would always stop by the room of my good friend DeCarlo to play a game or two on the Super Nintendo he had. I'd usually get VERY happy the few times I'd win a competitive game against him. He'd then refer to me as "You psycho child." Well, the name stuck. :)

I use the name a lot when I work on the Internet. Often, people will remember a pseudonym than your real name. Since my given name is rather common, I think that an unusual name is more memorable.

I also use the name when playing MUDs.

MUD stands for Multi-User Dimension/Dungeon. It's a text-based game where many people interact. Most are fantasy (D&D) based, but others exist as well. There are literally thousands of MUDs out there and most of them are fun, addicting, GPA-ruining, and an take quite a bit of your time. They are a good pasttime if you are able to limit yourself and not ignore the outside world. As my work load increases, my MUDding time decreases.

In my opinion, one of the biggest benefits of online games is that you can play types of people you'd never be. People regularly play fantasy people that don't exist in today's society. It's a lot like my Role-Playing hobby.

I usually play under the pseudonym "Psychochild", although I use different names if it is more appropriate to the game. It's fun playing a character with a different personality, acting different than I do offline. It's also interesting to see how others act, given the environment, freedom, and anonymity online life offers. It gives you a new point of view, what it is like to think different and to look at the world through different eyes. It encourages a lot of creativity and interaction skills.
