On to my next adventure: looking for work!

I’ll keep the news brief: City State Entertainment and I have parted ways. That’s all I want to say about this; any further questions will be politely ignored.

So, what now?

I’m considering various options. I’d love to find that hidden gem of a company that has a good foundation and needs an experienced person to help the company along to recognize their greatness. I’m playing around with some options in the short term. Yeah, I’ve woefully neglected posting on here, and I think I’ll try to remedy that situation over the next several weeks. Will this be another Blaugust in April/May? Perhaps!

I’d like to do some writing as well. With freedom comes some an explosion of ideas. One thing I’ve been reading up on is leadership skills. I have three books sitting next to my desk that I want to read. Maybe I’ll write some posts about leadership and some of my thoughts and synthesis from books and other sources.

I’ve also been thinking about dipping my toe into streaming. Recently I’ve been playing an iPad MOBA called Vainglory recently. If I can figure out how to set up streaming for the iPad, I might give people a glimpse as I flail around in that game.

There’s always personal projects I set aside for work. I teased a text MUD a few years ago. I might dust that off and do a bit more development on that. We’ll see how my documentation holds up a few years later! :) I’ve also wanted to write a book I’m calling “How to Think Like a Game Designer”. Got some notes on that I should dust off as well.

One option I’ve thought about is setting up a Patreon. Let you guys chip in as I’ll make goals and I create stuff for you guys. Specific game reviews, analysis, whatever. Let you see some of how the sausage is made. Thoughts? Might be interesting if I can get that going long term.

Anyway, expect a lot more posts from me over the coming weeks. I’ll cross-post to Twitter and Google+ as usual. :) But, let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to write about

  10. To all the CU backers stopping by: Thanks, all! :) The community was likely the absolute best part of my experience working on the game. It was great to have a supportive group that was more than just blind followers.
