My next big thing

I shared this tidbit on social networks first, so let get straight to the point: I’ve taken a position with City State Entertainment on the game known as Camelot Unchained.

I’m obviously very excited, even if it requires a move clear across the country.

You can read the official announcement where I’m mentioned as a new hire. Mark Jacobs even uses my “jolly pirate name” when referring to me. :)

This move shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as I was a cheerleader of the project even when I was back working with Storybricks. I did give Mark what advice I could about the Kickstarter campaign, and I kept up with it for quite a while after the projected funded successfully.

Anyway, I’m in the middle of a move, so things might be a bit quieter on my side than usual. I’ll re-iterate the standard disclaimer: this blog is my own, and while I might share information about games I’m working on, I’ll be explicit about it. Nothing I say should be taken as representing any company, particularly of City State Entertainment. It seems that Mark Jacobs likes to hide little hints and puzzles in his posts. I’m not Mark, so I’ll be more straight-forward. At least on here. :)

Not much to share about the work right now. I’ve mostly been doing the boring-but-necessary work of getting a development environment set up and then spending nights and weekends looking for a place to live. I’ll be flying back to California soon and driving back out to the northern Virginia area with my significant other and our two lovely cats. Wish me luck!

  3. Fantastic! He’s been involved with two of my favorite mmos to date. WAR with all its deficiencies still had fun combat mechanics and just different enough class designs. Then DAOC – lots to like there, although long in the tooth now. If you build it (good!) they will come (players) : )

    I held off on the KS, just because so many of them go south. But it’s a good sign they’re bringing developers like you and the new guy from Carbine on board.

    DAOC is still one of my fave games of all time. I hope they can recapture the magic and improve upon the shortfalls.

    I’m a bigger supporter of the project now that I know you are a part of it. Congrats!!
