Happy Holidays

I figured I’d at least post on Christmas Eve, wishing all you out there a good holiday season. Life’s been busy, frustrating, tiring, stressful, exciting, and fun all at once. More than usual this time of year.

Read on for a little glimpse into my life if you’re truly bored of spending time with your family. Otherwise, go enjoy the holidays!

We’ve got our generous donors to play The Fae’s Wyrd and the feedback has been great. We’ve polished up a few things, ironed out some tricky things, and definitely understand more about working with Flash. The downside is that the economics don’t look good. Some hundred dollars from generous donors is nice, but as someone pointed out in a comment, this isn’t exactly a replacement for a day job. We’ll see how well sponsorships go in the new year, but given the information I’ve seen I’m not overly optimistic.

Currently, I’ve been playing some single-player games. The infamous Steam sales have gotten the cheap part of me to splash out some cash for games. I’ve been playing way too much Mount & Blade: Warband, but I’ve been enjoying it. I just picked up VVVVVV and King Arthur – the Role-playing Wargame for cheap. Unfortunately, that 250 GB of space for games I allocated seems to not quite be enough anymore (!!!). Yeah, a QUARTER TERRABYTE is too small for my gaming collection. Okay, I still have a few hundred GB on other drives to use, but the logical drive I had for games is almost full. Geez. It’s almost like I have a problem.

It’s been over a year since I closed down NDS. I’ve been working to clean up different issues related to that (I thought I had filed the appropriate paperwork, turns out I missed some things….) I’m also trying to get my personal life back on track after many years of ignoring it. Went to the doctor, even, and bracing myself for some tough news. I’m also hoping to get a good project going with Psychoavatar so that we can make some actual money, looking at something multiplayer online, maybe dealing with paper RPGs. I’m also working on helping someone with a startup, so we’ll see how that goes. If anyone needs any consulting, as usual, don’t hesitate to ask. Even if I suddenly find myself without time, I might know some people who can help.

Anyway, I just hope everyone out is doing well. It’s still tough for everyone out there, and I hope the new year brings new hope for all of us.

  1. Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas from here in Australia, where it is afternoon of Christmas Day, and I’ve just settled down to relax with an ale after farewelling family that were here for lunch. Hope you have a great one, and a happy new year!

  2. Merry Christmas!

I haven’t had a chance to get back to Fae’s Wyrd after my initial excursion (mostly due to Demon’s Souls on my PS3), but I’ll set aside some time for it this coming week.

  3. You can never play too much Mount and Blade. Its a great game!

I only wish more people could see past its rough edges.

  4. “Yeah, a QUARTER TERRABYTE is too small for my gaming collection.”

Dude it’s not just the 21st century, but almost the end of the 00s. There are still games made that take up less than a gig (I even have a few new games on my Steam list that are less than 100 megs each), but gigabyte-sized DEMOS aren’t unusual now.

It’s really bad when you’re waiting to upgrade your computer because the disk size you want for your next internal HD doesn’t exist yet. Soon though.
