The perfect storm of user created garbage…
Filed under: — Psychochild @ 5:50 PM

Sit down, kids, Uncle Psychochild is gonna go off on a rant.

I still like to read Slashdot on occasion. Yeah, it’s not where the cool kids hang out these days, but I’m getting old and set in my ways. It’s still a pretty decent site for tech news, and sometimes the discussion is worthwhile.

Yeah, sometimes. But, when it goes wrong it goes seriously wrong.

Warning: this post talks about griefing involving images of anatomy. Probably NSFW, but you shouldn’t be reading this at work, anyway. Unless you’re a CSR, then this stuff is probably pretty tame compared to your work. ;)

Weekend Design Challenge: Cultural differences
Filed under: — Psychochild @ 5:57 AM

Sometime it’s easy for us Americans to get bogged down in our own little world and forget that there are other countries outside our borders besides Canada and Mexico. I’ve written before about cultural confusion when you’re in a country that is very alien to your way of life.

Columbine RPG dropped from competition

I just saw an article, “Exclusive: Columbine Game Kicked From Competition” over at Kotaku. In short, the game Super Columbine Massacre RPG was pulled from the Slamdance competition. There was mounting pressure and the threat of loss of sponsorship. Ah, nothing makes it easier to marginalize art than money.

I’ve talked about Making Art before, so I found this interesting. I just wish the game were a bit better quality so that it’d be something worth defending without reservation.

Weekend Design Challenge: Have a Happy New Year!

Take it easy this week. If you’re itching for a challenge, go do the one from last week.

I hope everyone is having a happy new year and that the coming year brings everyone the joy and happiness they deserve.

Have fun!
